Makasha Copeland (they/them) is a trans writer/actor/comedian. They were a two time resident comedic artist at Ars Nova, where they co-created, co-wrote, and performed in an original comedic film Madre Mia/Minha Maẽ and a dance comedy show STDYCD alongside Gabrielle Silva and Chase Doggett. Their full length plays have been produced at San Diego REP, Theatre Exile, Sideshow Theatre, The Agnes Nixon Festival, Scripps Ranch Theatre, Capital Repertory, Teatro Espejo, Theatre Lab FAU, and Vertigo Productions. Their play Extreme Home Makeover won the 2022 M. Elizabeth Osborn award, was a top five finalist for the Steinberg ATCA National New Play award, and won the 2019 Agnes Nixon Award. As a sketch comedian and improviser, their work has been produced at The Second City, Improv Olympic, and Brooklyn Comedy Collective. Their comedic TikTok series “Rinkwives” in collaboration with Morgan Rielly was reposted by Lady Gaga. Currently, they are pursuing the G in EGOT with comedic pop project PDA. Morgan Rielly is a lesbian writer/director working across digital, theater, and film. Currently, she writes viral stop-motion TikTok sketches for Mattel brands, including Barbie, with work garnering millions of views and being featured in Vanity Fair. She has worked in new work development at MCC Theater, New York Theatre Workshop, The Public Theater, JACK, and Theatre for a New City. Her comedic pilot Dead Ends received a staged reading produced by Emmy Award–winning writer/creator Jeff Kahn. Her collaborative projects with Makasha Copeland include PDA, a comedic project that recently had a sold-out live show at Lyric Hyperion; Rinkwives, a comedic digital series reposted by Lady Gaga; and Shark Rabies, a horror-comedy feature currently in development. She holds a BS from Northwestern University and a UCLA Television Writing Certificate.
Gabrielle Silva is a performer, singer, and comedian based in New York. As a two-time artist resident at Ars Nova, she co-created, developed, and performed the comedic film Madre Mia/Minha Maẽ, and the dance-improv reality show experience STDYCD: So The Dance You Think You Can Dance? Gaby has performed in comedy, improv, and sketch shows across venues such as Union Hall, BCC, Second City, and iO. Her film credits include “Human Theories,” and the web series “Free Lunch” and “Big Squad.” She is currently fulfilling her dream of pop stardom in the multi-media live show concert, original pop single, and pilot “PDA.”

Ars Nova is wheelchair accessible. If you wish or need to remain in your wheelchair throughout the show, our staff will remove the theater chair. This can be done by letting us know your needs/plans in advance; just email Taylor Rey. It can also be done without prior notice when you arrive! If you wish to transfer to the theater seat from your wheelchair, we are happy to store your wheelchair or motorized mobility aid in the lobby during the performance. The House Manager will return your mobility device to you at the end of the performance as this show has no intermission.
About 25% of the seating is on the ground floor of the theater and does not require using stairs to access. There are five six-inch steps to get into the building.
All remaining seats require no less than one and no more than three steps to access.
Licensed service animals (any dogs that are trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities) are welcome at Ars Nova. They must rest in your seating area throughout the performance and are unable to occupy the aisle. Please bring proof of certification or a license for your service animal and be prepared to present it to the House Manager upon request. You can send advance notice to tix@arsnovanyc.com, which is appreciated, but not required.
Our bathrooms are stalled, all gender restrooms – everyone is welcome to use any bathroom of their choice. We have two single-person restrooms in the lobby; with the wheelchair accessible option located right outside the theater on the first floor (doors 7 feet 10 inches x 3 feet 10.5 inches).
We have space that can be made to offer privacy for feeding should you need at any time. See the House Manager onsite and they will arrange a comfortable space, with storage and refrigeration for your materials.
The audience seating locations could be in, around and throughout the playing area. Performers will be within 3’ of you.

The doors for entry into the building are 7 feet 10.5 inches x 3 feet 7 inches (external) and 7 feet 10 inches x feet 10.5 inches (internal).
