Come On Over Baby!

Are you a current student or recent grad hoping to gain hands-on experience at a vibrant, eclectic organization? You’ve come to the right (cyber) place!

We are now accepting applications for our Fall 2018 Production Internship, running from September 4 through December 21, 2018.

Working closely with and directly reporting to the Production Manager and Associate Production Manager, this intern’s primary responsibility is to support the production activity of the theater and organize and maintain the technical resources.  The production internship is a heavily hands-on position. The Production Intern has daily interaction with the design and technical staff for the shows and projects and will be expected to participate in all areas of production – scenery, lighting, sound, video, stage management, costumes, as well as other tasks that may come up in the course of putting together a production.

Responsibilities may include hanging and focusing lights; setting up microphones and speakers; hanging curtains; carpentry and painting; serving as PA or backstage crew; loading and unloading trucks; running errands; maintaining the gel stock and other production inventories. The job can be physically demanding and will require comfort working on a ladder. The Production Intern may also be called upon for research or administrative duties for the production department. Some evenings or weekends may be required & schedules can be adjusted accordingly. Previous production experience required. Valid drivers license a plus.

Here’s a basic breakdown of the Production Internship experience:

  • These unpaid internships are designed for current students earning school credit — hours can be flexible.
  • You’ll get an all-access pass to see everything we produce for free!
  • You’ll participate in weekly seminars with each department @ Ars Nova and members of the larger New York theater community, in addition to mixers where you can get to know the vibrant extended network of our Ars Nova family.
