THE CITIZENS BAND: The Panic Is On

The Citizens Band, the sexy, ribald musical troupe renowned for their
dazzling song and dance performances, brings you THE PANIC IS ON, the
latest of the group’s critically-acclaimed socio-political productions.
Set in a fantastic neverland somewhere between 1918 and 1943, the troupe
finds itself confined to a makeshift bomb shelter and forced to make its
own bawdy entertainment while they ponder such issues as war,
immigration, xenophobia, poverty and their own hopes for political
change. The resulting mix of song, dance and elegant aerial ballet is
both wildly entertaining and intensely thought-provoking. http://www.thecitizensband.net/

OUT LOUD: SIXTY MILES TO SILVER LAKE

A lifetime can pass in the sixty miles between a boy’s soccer game and his father’s new house. For divorced father Ky and his son Denny, California freeways and sticky pleather car seats form the backdrop for the boy’s coming of age in this evocative, theatrical new play.

Written by: Dan LeFranc
Directed by: Anne Kauffman

OUT LOUD is Ars Nova’s play-reading series dedicated to supporting new work from emerging playwrights. OUT LOUD supports the playwright’s process by selecting leading directors and actors to work on each reading; and meeting with each writer before and after the reading to offer feedback and discuss script development. Each reading proves to be an essential step for playwrights in developing new work.

THE ART OF BEING NICK

Follow our charmingly clever anti-hero, Nick Reece as he journeys from the wild plains of the Jewish mafia to the arid desert of Arizona to the dingy, sexy absinthe bars of Berlin. Complemented by Reece’s ‘gay Henry Rollins meets David Sedaris’ stylings, the dulcet tones of Lemuel Wade and the guitar stylings of internationally acclaimed and Grammy-nominated guitarist/songwriter Gary Lucas (co-wrote “Grace” and “Mojo Pin” with Jeff Buckley), THE ART OF BEING NICK is a hilarious travelogue you won’t want to miss. www.myspace.com/artofnick
